Vote Validation, Advanced Options, & Filters

Vote Validation

If you want to see the valid (within window, within limit, etc.) votes, select the “Valid” radio button.

“Invalid” (Vote out of window, vote over limit) and All (valid and invalid combined) are generally used for non-digital vote methods (such as IVR or SMS) so it is rare to use anything but ‘”Valid”.

Advanced Options

If a campaign has vote limits imposed by the backend ruleset then you would NOT need to select anything within the Advanced Options section and you can proceed to “Run Report”.

You would use Advanced Options ONLY if:

You have a campaign where you can change your vote allocations throughout the campaign before the window closed.

For this, select “Advanced Options”, then use “Ruleset – Yes”, then “Record Last Vote”. This will make sure only the last submission per unique identifier is deemed valid.

If you have a campaign where the vote limit is imposed only on the reporting side NOT the ruleset side.

For this, select “Advanced Options”, use “Ruleset = No”, and then select “Vote Limiting Type” and input a value.

  • Set Total Limit = if there is a limit across all contestants in a vote (e.g. 10 vote limit per user, regardless of who a user votes for). For this, input in the “Set Total Limit” box what that limit is.
  • Set Contestant Limit = if there is a limit per contestant (e.g. 10 vote limit per user per contestant). For this, input in the “Set Contestant Limit” box what that limit is.
  • If you want to run without using the ruleset but do not want to impost an actual limit, input 0 as the limit. This can be useful if we are receiving external data (toll-free or a third party line iTunes) and you want to make sure all data has been processed/uploaded.
  • For this, run 2 report jobs – 1 report job without a limit (set to 0) and then 1 report job with a limit (e.g. 10 per contestant).

Filters

Sometimes you may need to filter data.  The most common/likely reason is if you have a campaign that has more than one login method (e.g. Facebook and email).  Each login method is known as a Media Type.

While some of the report outputs will break out the information by Media Type (e.g. By Contestant By Method) as well as an overall total, some will display the data automatically combined across multiple media types (e.g. By Minute By Contestant).

If you want to see data for only ONE Media Type within a multi Media Type campaign:

Select “Enable Filters”. Input core.media_type under Name. The Media Type Value, such as ivr, web, wap, Twitter, iTunes, etc. should be under Value (If you do not know what media type names are being used, ask TechOps as some will be self explanatory (Twitter), but some will not (e.g. web may be Facebook or it may be email). Then select “Add Filter”.
